Experience
Mr. Gray is responsible for originating, underwriting and structuring new investment opportunities and identifying new real estate operating partners. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the management of over $1.5 billion of Rockwood Capital’s investments located in the western United States. Mr. Gray is also co-responsible for the formation and implementation of Rockwood’s investment strategy.

From 1990 to 1995, responsible for new investments and portfolio management with Rockefeller & Associates Realty (“RAR”). During tenure, RAR invested approximately $350 million in equity joint ventures to acquire over $1 billion of real estate, which is currently managed by Rockwood Capital, the successor to RAR. Personal responsibilities included originating, underwriting and structuring new investment opportunities, identifying local operating partners, and asset management of investments located in the western United States.

From 1989 to 1990, Vice President and Partner with The William Ditz Company. As Vice President, participated in the development of industrial and land development projects in northern California. While at The William Ditz Company, independently provided investment and development consulting services to third parties including Rockefeller & Associates Realty (“RAR”). Assignments with RAR, which included identification of potential investment opportunities, resulted in a redirection of RAR’s investment strategy from development related projects to the acquisition of existing assets.

From 1988 to 1989, Project Manager and Financial Analyst with Union Pacific Realty Corporation, the real estate subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation. As Project Manager and Financial Analyst, coordinated the project and asset management of industrial and land development projects totaling over $200 million in northern California and northern Nevada. Personal responsibilities included (a) originating new investment and development opportunities, (b) underwriting of all investment and disposition opportunities, and (c) asset management of industrial and land projects located in northern California and northern Nevada. During tenure, directly assisted (a) the regional President in a proposed management buyout of Union Pacific Realty’s western United States assets, and (b) the Chief Financial Officer of Union Pacific Corporation in packaging the real estate subsidiary for divestiture.

From 1986 to 1988, Associate with Bechtel Investments Realty, the real estate investment arm of the Bechtel family. Responsible for originating, underwriting and structuring new investment opportunities in the western United States and general asset management of Bechtel’s $2 billion real estate portfolio. During tenure with Bechtel Investments Realty, personal involvement included (a) the acquisition of commercial projects in the western United States, and (b) various asset management assignments including the sale of over one million square feet of office space located in California and Texas.
